Norwegian Forestry Museum Elverum

Elverum is a lovely little town in Norway that may not be quite as well known. Just 90 minutes drive north of the capital Oslo, Elverum is a beautiful place packed with great walking trails, cross country skiing tracks and is home to one of the largest museums in Norway. The Norwegian Forest Museum (Norsk Skogmuseum) located in downtown Elverum, represents the history of hunting, trapping, fishing, forestry and forest industry and welcomes more than 110 000 visitors annually. Spanning either side of the Glomma River, the museum is a great day out for the family with some beautiful outdoor areas including walking trails and picnic areas and showcases an amazing array of wildlife native to Norway. You can also grab a bite to eat in the little cafe and shop for quality souvenirs in their great little gift store.

During our summer visits we love to take an evening walk through the grounds when staying with family who live just up the road. The outdoor area remains open for you to wander through and enjoy the evening sunlight, which never seems to set in the summertime! 🌞
